Mankatha is Ajith’s 50th film

Ajith has completed his 18th year in his cinema career. In his 18th year of his career, he is acting in the film Mankatha. He is donning dual roles in Mankatha. One of that role is a dangerous villain role.

Ajith is the first hero to act with beard throughout the film. He had also acted in the film Amarkalam like that. Now other heroes are following him. Even in Mankatha he is sporting a new look. He is donning the salt and pepper hair style. This hair style is called Apple White.

There is a big star cast in this Mankatha. Arjun, Premji Amaran, Vaibhav, Mahat , Ganesh Venkatraman, Aswin, Manju Manoj, Trisha, Sneha, Lakshmi Rai, Vega, Vedhika, Anjali, Andrea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kainaat Arora and Sona are starring in this film. Ajith and Kainaat Arora are shaken their legs for a bar dance.

Mankatha is a film based on the cricket gambling. All are bad, but how bad he is. This is the character of Ajith in this film. There are nine songs in this film. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. There are variety of songs that include Ajith’s intro song, duet song with Trisha and Kuthu songs.

A song which begins with the line Aadu Mankatha has been shot in a very different way in Bangkok. Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja has sung a song for Mankatha. Vaali and Gangai Amaran have penned the lyrics. Apart from them, Mahakavi Bharathiyar grandson Niranjan Bharathi has penned a song.

Cinematographer Saravanan has shot some important sequences strapping a body mount camera in his body which weighed 50 kilos. The shooting of the film has taken place in Mumbai’s Dharavi slum. To shoot some important scenes, art director Riteesh has erected sets replica of Dharavi.

Venkat Prabhu has cleverly managed to match the real and the sets. The corruption of IPL cricket President Lalith Modi features in this film. Arjun is donning the role of a CBI officer who investigates this corruption.

Vivek dons the role of a psycho villain

Comedy actor Vivek is donning psycho villain role in a film. He while speaking about this said," For the last 25 years I had acted in 450 films in Tamil and Malayalam languages. Now I am donning the role of a psycho villain in an untitled film.

I have switched over from my usual comedy role to do a different kind of role. Mithun is doing the lead role. Anbu Chezhian is directing this film. The shooting of this film is to take place in a hilly terrain. I am changing my get up to do this role.

I am donning the role of a villain which will not have the shade of any other villain actor. Why I became a psycho villain will be narrated in an innovative way."

Captain's foreign trip with family

‘Captain’ Vijaykanth has decided to take a break from the Chennai heat and long election campaigns by unwinding abroad. The actor recently left to Italy along with his wife to enjoy a peaceful holiday. He is currently in Rome sightseeing and relaxing.

Vijaykanth contested in the TN elections this year from Rishivanthiyam constituency and is allied with AIADMK, the main opposition. The election results will be out on the 13^th of May and Vijaykanth will return to India on the 14^th of May.

Protests outside Vikram’s house

News about the Thevar community’s unhappiness towards the title of Vikram’s upcoming movie ‘Deiva Thirumagan’ has been in the media for long. Before the team could relent and find a suitable title to replace the original, the Thevar group and Forward block party held protests in front of Vikram’s house in Thiruvanmiyur today morning.

Headed by Muthiah hundreds of people held protests stating that naming a character with developmental disability as ‘Deiva Thirumagan’ undermines and insults their leader Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. Once the protests started Vikram notified the police who came there and arrested many for causing disturbance. Vikram has sought police protection for his house until the case which is currently going on in Madurai high court comes to a conclusion. During all this commotion the producer Mohan Natarajan announced that the movie title has been changed to ‘Deiva Thirumagal’.

Why is Srikanth excited?

Handsome actor Srikanth despite his good looks and talent has failed to make it big in the Tamil film industry. But the actor is now being directed by hit-maker Shankar in the film Nanban which also stars Vijay, Jiiva, Ileana and Satyaraj.  The actor has signed his next film and it has been titled Ethiri En.3.Srikanth is excited about this movie and says that the script is very novel and that he is happy to have signed the dotted line. Ethiri En.3 is scripted and is to be directed by debutant Ram Kumar and is produced by Sixth sense production house. The film is touted to be a crime thriller and will start rolling from the 11^th of May. We hope this movie gives Srikanth the much deserved break!

Vadivelu hits out at Rajini

Vadivelu today flayed Superstar Rajinikanth for reportedly dropping him from his forthcoming film 'Rana'.

Speaking to reporters after calling on Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi in Chennai today, the comedian said he was not bothered about being dropped from 'Rana'

''Whether it is Rana or Gana...I am not bothered about it'', Vadivelu said, adding: ''The scenes and seasons will change after May 13 (the day when counting of votes polled in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will take place)."

It is to be noted that Vadivelu came down heavily on Vijayakanth during his election campaign in support of the DMK and this is said to be the reason behind Rajini dropping him from ‘Rana’.

Kamal to act in Traffic’s Remake?

‘Traffic’ was the first ever hit in 2011 in Malayalam. The movie recently celebrated its 111th day and Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event was held at the Gokulam Convention Centre in Ernakulam where Kamal Haasan and director Lal Jose distributed the mementos to the entire crew and artists of the movie.

The movie is a brilliant one and had received great reviews and much critical acclaim from allover! It revolves around the lives of three men who get to know each during a traffic jam. Mollywood audiences are surprised and overjoyed at how Kamal had displayed his enthusiasm in this subject, as 'Traffic' was not just a trendsetter in Mollywood but also a commercial hit.

Speaking on the occasion, the star said that he will be working with the same crew and cast except for Rahman, as Kamal would like to play the character played by Rahman in the original version of the movie. Rahman played the role of ‘Superstar Siddharth’ in the Malayalam movie. The movie will revolve around the journey in transporting a heart of a dying person to somebody who is in need of the heart transplantation in a nearby town.

Looks like fans can look forward to this movie earlier than Kamal’s next project with Selvaraghavan!

‘Narthagi’ – Fighting to be heard

Of late the graph of Tamil cinema has taken a new dimension. More films are released which makes the audience sit up and think about various happenings around them. These days, audiences are opening up to accept newer themes belonging to varied genres. There is one more film going to be released shortly, which will be a forerunner for similar films to be released in future. For the first time ever, a film based on the life of a transgender will be released in Tamil.

The film is titled ‘Narthagi’ with Kalki playing the protagonist’s role. The film deals with the struggle a transgender has to face right from childhood through the adolescent years into adulthood and the many obstacles she comes across from the nearest of kin to the society and the outside world in general. It also distinctly portrays the subtle struggles a transgender copes up with like falling in love with someone belonging to the same gender, being ditched by loved ones and their struggle to be heard and respected in the society.

‘Narthagi’ is a film about a transgender who is a bharathanatyam dancer. Though the film is about a dancer it deals with the emotions of a transgender. The director vividly shows the hardships faced by the protagonist right from schooldays, lack of acceptance from the family when they come to know about the sexuality of their child, the problems faced by the protagonist after running away from home and finally accepting life as it is.

The film is directed by Vijay Padma. So will a woman be able to bring out the hardships faced by a transgender precisely?

Since women have a better hand dealing with the emotional quotient when compared to their stronger counterparts, the protagonist’s emotion has been beautifully brought out claims the lead star of the film, Kalki. ‘Narthagi’ passed the censor board’s table recently and was stamped a painful ‘A’. Kalki is quite upset with this ‘A’ but feels that irrespective of the certificate, the film will strike a chord in the minds of the people and give them a feel into the life and feelings of a transgender. Kalki feels that ‘Narthiagi’ will be a first of its kind film in world cinema scenario.

Velayudham to hit the screens on 22nd June

Vijay starrer Kaavalan was released three months back. Now Vijay is acting in Velayudham and Nanban. 80% shooting of the Velayudham is over. Hansika Motwani and Genelia are sharing the screen with Vijay.

Jayam Raja is directing this film. Aascar Ravichandran is producing this film. Vijay is donning the role of a milk man. Genelia is donning the role of a journalist. There are lots of expectations about this film since Raja is directing Vijay for the first time. Raja has earlier directed hit films like Jayam and Santosh Subramaniam.

Vijay fans are very much waiting fir the release of Velayudham. The producer is planning to release this film on 22nd June which happens to be the birthday of Vijay. Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has decided to celebrate the release of Velayudham in a big way. His fans have also decided to do lot charitable deeds on Vijay’s birthday.

Piaa tells not to ask about her personal life

Piaa had acted in the Tamil films Poi Solla Porom, Goa, Bale Pandiya and Ko. She while speaking to the media said," Like others I also fell in love. But it did not materialize.

Don’t ask anything about my personal life. It cannot be shared with everyone. In the film Ko I got a good role. All are asking me that why I had acted in the second heroine role. If there is importance in the role we can act in it.

I will act in the kissing scenes or in glamorous roles if the story demands it. Currently I am learning Tamil. I will settle in Chennai if I continue to get offers in Tamil. I have also acted in lots of Ad films. I will be acting in a Hindi film."

Emmy Jackson says that Vijay has recommended her to Gowtham

London based Emmy Jackson had paired with Arya in the film Madrasapattinam directed by Vijay. Emmy Jackson while speaking to the media said," In a short time I will be doing the female lead role in the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya.

 In fact I got this opportunity because of director Vijay. He is the one who recommended me to Gowtham Menon. I am eagerly waiting to work with Gowtham. I have seen his film Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya at least 16 times. He said that he will make me act in this film in a way that Bollywood audience would like. He has told me give the heroine role in this film.

Many are asking me whether I am in love with Arya. When I debuted in the Tamil film in which he did the lead role. We both are good friends. That’s all."

Thamanna dubs in Telugu and will also soon dub for Tamil films

Thamanna dubbed in Telugu in her own voice. This film has Naga Chaitanya in the lead role. When asked Thamanna about this she said," I am currently pairing with Naga Chaitanya.

It was a news experience for me. The film is titled 100% Love. This film has an innovative love story. The shooting of this film has been completed. The post-production work is going on.

Usually Malliswawri use to dub for me. She was asked to dub for me in this film also. But at the last moment the producer and director said that it would be better if I dub myself. They encouraged me. Because of this I spoke. In future I will be dubbing for Telugu films.

I very easily learnt the Telugu language like Tamil. So far I have not dubbed in Tamil. But I will soon start dubbing for Tamil films also. There was news that I had some salary problems for the film 100% Love film. But there is no truth in that news."

Jeeva says that everyone is his friend

The wonderful and beautiful film Ko which has Jeeva in the lead role directed by K V Anand has been released. Jeeva while speaking said," I saw the film Ko with my friends. Now I am so confident about myself. May be even after few years, I might say that this is a good film. I am very thankful to director K V Anand.

There were lots of expectations about Ko among the people. It is true. This film has now fulfilled these expectations. The film has honoured the media which is one of the pillars of democracy. Every place and news is an experience for a journalist. That experience is the story of this film. Many are asking me that why I have stopped acting in films like Ram and Katradhu Tamizh. These films are my best films.

Every body appreciates Katradhu Tamizh even today. This film gave me everything at a time when I did not expect. I was really surprised about my hard work in this film. Then I started acting in commercial films like Thennavattu, Katcheri Arambam and Singam Puli. These films were respectful hits. I cannot continue to act in films like Katradhu Tamizh and I should be in every thing. After Katradhu Tamizh I have strained a lot for Roudram. Now there is new healthy trend in Tamil cinema.

Young actors have started sharing the screens with one and another. I expected this. It was there earlier in Tamil cinema. Now and then we forget this. Now it is back. I think the reason for this is that all the actors are good friends. I think this is a good thing for Tamil cinema. Audiences are also expecting this. I am also friendly with all the actors. If I like the story I will the share the screen with anyone. Arya, Jayam Ravi, Bharath and Vishal are all my close friends

Rajini admitted to hospital

Rajinikanth has been admitted to St Isabel's Hospital in Chennai after he reported some uneasiness in the sets of Rana. The Superstar was immediately rushed to the hospital where the diagnosis revealed food poisoning.

The star was at the AVM Studios this morning where the pooja and first shot of Rana took place. He reportedly ate his lunch after which he complained of uneasiness. The doctors attending to Rajinikanth have advised him to take a few days rest. Looks like Rana shooting will be postponed until Rajini gains his health back.

This is a shock for all Ajith fans

Ajith has a shocking announcement for his fans on his birthday. He released a statement to the effect that Ajith Kumar fan clubs across the state are to be disbanded! On the eve of  his 40th brithday, he has conveyed his gratitude to family, friends, and fans for helping him achieve his current stature as an actor par excellence.

Then in a stunning move, he said that while he appreciated his fans, it would be better for them not to engage in political activities or act out of vested interests using the fan club tag, contrary to his wishes. Even charitable activities that may inadvertently inconvenience others or put a strain on their personal lives were not to be encouraged, he said. The actor says that he has never used or exploited his fans for personal gain and will never do so.

Finally, he announced that his fan clubs will be disbanded starting from May 1st. He said that the relationship between a star and a fan is forged out of shared love for cinema and any additional factors will detract the mutual respect. Therefore, from now on he will be content to do his best for them on the big screen alone and they are welcome to appreciate his work or be objective in their criticism. Ajith says his true fans will understand his revolutionary stand! We are still reeling from the shock to comment.

Rana: The journey begins

The shooting of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Rana, directed by KS Ravikumar and produced by Eros International, began today. Producer, Panchu Arunachalam sounded the clap board, RM Veerapan switched on the camera, and K Balachander directed the first shot in an auspicious ritual that was held at the Pillaiyar Temple in AVM studios today at 9.45 am.

The Superstar was looking dashing, dapper, and about half his actual age in a warrior’s costume. Leading Lady, Deepika Padukone looked lovely in a gorgeous blue sari with a maroon and gold border. Latha Rajinikath and daughters Aishwariya and Soundarya were also present.

The VIPs present at the momentous occasion included Muktha Srinivasan, SP Muthuraman, RC Sakthi, R Thiagarajan, Kavignar Vaali, Mahendran, AVM Saravanan, Sivaji Ramkumar, Prabhu, RB Choudhary, SA Chandrasekar, P Vasu, Suresh Krishna, Dhanu, Vairamuthu, CV Rajendran, A Jaganathan, and Cho Ramasamy.

Mysskin and Silambarasan to join hands?

Mysskin was reported to direct a film with Kamal Haasan in the lead but this project did not take off owing to certain differences between the two. Sources in Kollywood now say that the director may soon wield the megaphone for a film that will have Silambarasan as the protagonist.

It is being reported that Silambarasan is keen on working in a film that is to be directed by Mysskin as he is impressed with the director’s style. Sources also say that the two had met recently to discuss a project but there is no official word on this yet.

Hansika Motwani says that she is a fan of Prabhu Deva

Hansika Motwani has become a top heroine after the release of Mappillai. Now there is big queue waiting for her call sheet. Hansika while speaking to the media said," People who saw Mappillai are appreciating my acting.

I was a little scared until the release of this film. But now I am proud because after the release of this film, Tamil audiences have accepted me as one of their girl belonging to the family. My ambition is to act in good roles and earn a good name. About Engeyum Kadhal, it is a beautiful romantic story. There is nothing in the world which has no romance.

Romance is an important thing in the world. Jayam Ravi comes to Paris. I who domicile there fall in love with him. What happens to this love is the story. The film will be jollied full and sensational. Jayam Ravi has helped a lot in the sets. He is a good actor. He will be cracking lots of jokes. It was good experience acting with him. Many have asked me about the experience of working with Prabhu Deva.

Everybody knows that he is a good choreographer. The Hindi film Wanted which he directed was a big hit. I used to be stunned when I see his dancing. I am a great fan of him. I will say that I am very lucky because I had acted in his film."

Kamal and Manirathnam appreciates Chiranjeevi’ s son

Ram Charan Teja is the son of the popular Telugu actor Chiranjeevi. Ram Charan Teja did the lead role in the Telugu film Magadheera. This film was a block buster. This film has been dubbed in Tamil with the title Maaveeran. Udhayanidhi Stalin is releasing this dubbed film under the banner Red Giant Movies throughout Tamil Nadu.

Through this dubbed film Ram Charan Teja is being introduced to Tamil audience. Raja Mouli has directed this film. Maragathamani has composed the music. The audio CD in Tamil has been released in a function held in Chennai. Actor Kamal Haasan released the audio CD which was received by Manirathnam. Both of them while speaking on this occasion appreciated Ram Charan Teja.

Kamal Haasan while speaking said," Chiranjeevi and I were early age actors. But now I am jealous seeing the acting of the younger generation actors including Ram Charan Teja. It seems that Ram Charan has labored hard to act in this film. This dubbed film should also be released in Andhra Pradesh. My films have been released in Tamil there. These films were well received.

Telugu people are always in praise of Tamil. Telugu people living here also have accepted Tamil as their mother tongue. Tamil and Telugu film industry should work united. Most of the foreign countries have a feeling that Indian films are being produced only in Mumbai. In order to make them understand that Indian films like Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam are also being produced here, we should join hands. By doing this, we can do good business."
